Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions for clients and lawyers.

For clients

Is Lawdar a law firm?

No. Lawdar is an advertising directory connecting you with verified Hong Kong solicitors. We do not provide legal advice and are not a party to any engagement between you and a solicitor.

How are lawyers verified?

Every lawyer listed on Lawdar must upload their current practising certificate. Our team verifies it against the Law Society of Hong Kong register before the profile goes live.

Do I pay legal fees through Lawdar?

No. Lawdar never collects, holds, or processes legal fees. You arrange and pay fees directly with the solicitor. The prices shown on profiles are the solicitor's own published fees.

How do reviews work?

Only clients who have completed a consultation booked through Lawdar can leave a review. Each review is tied to a specific booking. This ensures reviews are from real clients with genuine experience.

Is booking a consultation free?

Yes — creating a booking request on Lawdar is free. The consultation fee is paid directly to the solicitor at their published rate. There is no platform fee for clients.

What if I have a problem with my solicitor?

If you have a concern after a consultation, you can raise a dispute on the booking from your dashboard. Our team will review it and help facilitate a resolution.

For lawyers

How do I list my practice on Lawdar?

Register for a lawyer account, complete your profile with your practice areas, languages, and fee packages, and upload your current Hong Kong practising certificate. Our team will verify your certificate against the Law Society register — once approved, your profile goes live.

How much does it cost to list on Lawdar?

Listing is free during our launch period. Verified profiles appear in search at no cost and there is no commission on your legal fees. Paid plans for sponsored placement will be introduced later.

How does sponsored placement work?

Premium subscribers appear in a sponsored slot at the top of relevant search results. Sponsored placements are always clearly labelled as 'Sponsored' with a disclosure that it is a paid placement, not a ranking by quality. Organic results remain ordered by relevance.

Who controls my profile content?

You do. You write and edit your own profile, set your own fee packages, and manage your own availability. Lawdar verifies your credentials but you own your profile content.

What are my obligations under the Solicitors' Practice Promotion Code?

You remain responsible for all content on your profile under the Promotion Code. This includes ensuring no 'expert' claims, no success-rate references, and no comparisons carrying adverse implications about other solicitors. Lawdar provides the platform; you are responsible for your own promotion.

Can clients leave reviews on my profile?

Yes — clients who complete a consultation booked through Lawdar can leave a review. Reviews are moderated and framed as the client's own opinion. Per-review star ratings are shown but never aggregated into a competitive ranking against other lawyers.
