Disclaimer
Please read the following disclaimer and terms of service carefully. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms set out below.
Nature of the Platform
LAWDAR (hereinafter referred to as "the Platform") operates strictly as an information directory and matching intermediary connecting the general public with local legal professionals. The Platform is not a law firm, does not practice law, and does not provide legal advice, legal aid, or legal consultation of any kind.
No Employment or Agency Relationship
Independent Contractor Status: The relationship between the Platform and the registered lawyers is strictly that of an independent platform service provider and a platform user. All lawyers, partners, barristers, or legal practitioners listed on the Platform are not employees, agents, representatives, or partners of the Platform.
No Apparent Authority: No lawyer has the authority to make representations, statements, or enter into agreements on behalf of the Platform. The Platform exercises no substantive control, intervention, or supervision over the daily professional conduct, operational methods, or case handling of any lawyer.
Limitations of Verification
Although the Platform requires practitioners to submit their Hong Kong Practising Certificate during registration and cross-references it with the public registers of The Law Society of Hong Kong or the Hong Kong Bar Association, the "Verified" status reflects records only at the time of onboarding. Due to potential delays in official registry updates, the Platform cannot guarantee 100% real-time accuracy or completeness. Users bear the sole responsibility to verify a practitioner's current licensing status with the official regulatory bodies before formal engagement.
Disclaimer of Legal Advice and Service Quality
No Warranty of Outcomes: The Platform does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee any oral or written legal opinions, strategic analyses, contract drafting, courtroom defenses, or litigation outcomes provided by the lawyers. The success of legal matters depends on numerous variables, and users assume all risks associated with hiring a practitioner.
Independent Contractual Liability: Any engagement relationship (including but not limited to consultations, representation, or document preparation) formed after contacting a lawyer through the Platform constitutes an independent legal contract solely between the user and the lawyer. If a user suffers financial loss, infringement of rights, or legal liability due to a lawyer's negligence, omission, professional misconduct, delay, or erroneous advice, the user expressly agrees to waive all claims against the Platform, and shall seek remedies directly from the practicing lawyer and their respective law firm, or file a complaint with The Law Society of Hong Kong.
Autonomy of Fees and Contracts: Any fee structures displayed on the Platform (including fixed-fee packages, estimated hourly rates, or consultation fees) are for informational reference only. The final billing terms are subject to the formal retainer letter signed between the user and the lawyer. All legal fee payments and financial transactions are arranged directly between the user and the lawyer. The Platform does not process, handle, or hold any legal fees, nor does it deduct any commissions from them.
